A statement from the city manager:

Last night's ice storm has heavily impacted the residents of the City of Lincoln Park. There are widespread power outages in the city and it is likely residents without power will not see their power restored for until the weekend.

Most city buildings are without power. It is very likely that most city buildings will remain closed tomorrow. Thankfully, our first reponders are operating on generator power and they are able to keep our residents safe and continue to respond to calls.

The department of public works has been working to clear roads of debris since 8:00pm last night. There are still many reported tree limbs and branches down in roads and DPS will not be able to get them all today. They are going to continue clean-up efforts tomorrow.

Since 8:00pm, the fire department has responded to over 160 calls related to this storm.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that Wayne County is planning to declare an emergency for this storm. However, I am hopeful we might get a state level declaration and I am working through our state representative to try and accomplish this.

I'm thankful for all of the city's first reponders, volunteers, and workers who are diligently working to keep everyone safe.

In the meantime, the weather forecast is calling for freezing temperatures tonight and into the weekend. Thankfully, Resurrection Church at 2071 Porter has offered its building as a warming center.

Please everyone, be safe out there.

James Krizan, City Manager
